What T&T can learn from Fatima College.

Everyone says they went to the best school in the world.  Except if they did not attend Fatima College, then I must break some news to them.  They are wrong.  I don’t know what it is about that school that makes me very happy that I (and my 3 sons and 2 brothers and a whole bunch of cousins and nephews) went there.  Actually, I do know.  It was/is the Fatima Spirit.

Fatima prides itself on producing well-rounded students.  And I believe that is at the heart of the Fatima Spirit.  If you want to win schols, you probably better off somewhere else.  But you can win a schol, as many have, but don’t expect special attention.  Fatima cares for all, not just the “bright boys”.  And it cares for its boys’ development in all areas including spiritual, sporting, social and developing community minded people.   Everyone is important, not just those with special talents.

When I drive into Fatima to pick up my son Diego (he’s just left for University), I see the same spirit alive and well.  I see a Family.  I see a loving community.  I see a Parents Support Group Meeting in progress.  I see the Old Boys Association Executive planning another fund raiser.  I see boys playing table tennis under the library while others play small-goal football or windball cricket.  I see teachers giving freely of their time.  I see Father Gregory consulting with students, parents and teachers.

What’s makes my college so special?  Fatima cares.
