How do we get out of the muddy pond?

Out of Yesterday’s Rejection, onward to a new perfection
From a hunger came a feel, from that feel we shaped the steel
So we sing the song of praise for those who
Helped to clear the path that we can see through
So now our children they have a source so very Trinbagonian of course.
Out of a Muddy pond ten thousand flowers bloom. – David Michael Rudder

10 things:

  1. Acknowledge that we are in a muddy pond
  2. Fix the broken school system that leaves too many people behind
  3. Take individual responsibility for doing the right thing in simple things (wait our turn) and big things (don’t collect VAT and not declare it)
  4. More transparency.  Jobs and contracts for the boys and girls must stop. (Major overhaul of electoral financing.  Share of voice is trumping quality of ideas)
  5. Diversify our economy to embrace our rich cultural heritage
  6. Feed ourselves
  7. Don’t reward those who promote a culture of supreme leadership (Encourage dissent in private and public sector organisations.  Too many of us are yes men.)
  8. Teach civility in schools
  9. Enforce our laws. Fix our Police service
  10. Start a conversation with citizens and keep it going
